USAIGC/IAIGC Competitive Program – Since 1973
Reorganized 2001 with the elimination of the compulsory program, replacing it with an optional only College Bound Competitive Program, that provides our gymnasts and Coaches a large variety of gymnastic skills to choose from instead of the mandatory compulsory skills, which is restrictive. WE, the USAIGC and its voting membership created a USAIGC Code of Points.

Our USAIGC Competitive Program is built on long-term skill development with the intentional slowing down of the gymnasts’ learning curve allowing our gymnasts the necessary time to develop and perfect their skills in a logical, progressive and safe manner. Longevity is the key for gymnastic success. It takes time to master the skills of gymnastics. The USAIGC wants our gymnasts in our sport until High School graduation and beyond.

USAIGC Gymnasts have competitive options. Our rules allow our gymnasts to compete on two consecutive competition levels. All-Around Gymnasts can compete on “up to two events” on their next competitive level eliminating their “frustration of being stuck in a competitive level”. USAIGC gymnasts may compete on a three competitive platforms: All-Around Competition, Individual Event Specialist and Team Competition up to our World Championship.

The USAIGC recommends training hours that are realistic for today’s gymnasts based on their competitive level. The USAIGC does not believe in the18+hour workweek. Over-training is the main reason gymnasts leave our sport before the age of 12 years old. The USAIGC provides our Gymnasts with ample time for their school responsibilities; participate in family activities and time to maintain an outside life with friends.

The USAIGC Competitive program provides our gymnasts with a positive experience to participate in the sport they love, to learn their competitive skills in a logical and safe manner and to have an opportunity to compete Nationally and Internationally in an atmosphere of competition and friendship. Life is about the experiences.

Gymnasts become very special individuals. They are a head above their peers, and are strong, intelligent, goal oriented, success driven with excellent time management skills and learn first hand about individual success and failure. These intangible skills (not scores, placement nor levels) will prepare our gymnasts for tomorrows’ world making them tomorrows’ leaders. The USAIGC fosters and nurtures the attributes of a sound mind and sound body leading to successful, healthy and well-rounded individuals. This is what the USAIGC is all about! We invite you to join our family.
